OIT Governance
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) University has two IT governance advisory committees that gather input from a broad set of key stakeholders. These two advisory committees provide strategic oversight and direction in prioritizing investments and overseeing the execution of key initiatives and processes.
Academic Governance Committee
The Academic Governance Committee, known as the OIT Academic Advisory Committee, provides input and recommendations on both strategic and operational goals and objectives for OIT as they affect technologies in support of instruction and research.
Membership consists of 13 voting members (one representative from each college [10], the Center for eLearning [1], the libraries [1], and the Associate Vice President/CIO [1]) and one non-voting member, the Director of Instructional Technologies. The Academic Advisory Committee meets monthly October through April.
Academic Advisory Committee Responsibilities:
- Provides a forum for communication to and from faculty on topics related to information technology support for instruction and research.
- Advises the Executive Committee and OIT with regard to the academic and research information technology needs and priorities of the Colleges.
- Provides input to and feedback on the University's Information Technology Plan.
- Provides information to faculty on future directions in academic and instructional technology.
- Assists with cross-college efforts to take advantage of shared opportunities and efficiencies.
- Provides leadership for cooperative efforts on shared opportunities and problems.
- Provides guidance in the establishment of both strategic and operational goals and objectives for the advancement of technologies at FAU.
Administrative Governance Committee
The Administrative Governance Committee (AGC) provides input, direction, and oversight of the Office of Information Technology (OIT) project portfolio and initiatives.
The committee is comprised of eleven voting members, one representative from each of the following areas, and three non-voting members from OIT: Admissions, Division of Research, Financial Aid and New Student Services, Financial Operations and Controller’s Office, Graduate College, Human Resources, Institutional Advancement, Office of the Registrar, Office of Information Technology (CIO), Provost Office, Academic Affairs, and Student Affairs, Technology Services.
AGC members are responsible for:
- Project scoring and strategic alignment.
- Project prioritization.
- Resource optimization.
- Product roadmap planning.
- Alignment with financial goals.
- Risk management.
